What Does Low Cost Cremation Involve
Cremation is the process of reducing a deceased human body to basic chemical compounds such as gases and dry bone fragments. This is accomplished through high-temperature burning, vaporization and oxidation. Cremation may serve as a funeral or post-funeral rite that is an alternative to the burial option in which the deceased lies in a casket. The cremated remains may be buried or interred in a memorial site or cemetery, or they may be legally retained by relatives and dispersed in a variety of ways. Here in Edmonton a cremation takes place at a crematorium.
A body that is ready to be cremated must be placed in a container for cremation, which can be a simple corrugated cardboard box or a wooden casket. We provide a line of cremation caskets specifically designed for cremation. Another option is a cardboard box that fits inside a wooden shell, which is designed to look like a traditional casket. After the funeral service, the box is removed from the shell before cremation, permitting the shell to be re-used, helping keep your costs low.
After the cremation the cremated remains are held in an urn to which may be buried or returned to the relatives.
