It is with great sadness that the family announces Margaret’s death in her 87th year. She passed peacefully at home, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her parents, George Abram and Isabella Mary Reekie; and two brothers, Gordon Wright (Elsie), and George Melvin (Marion/Heather).

Left to mourn are her husband of 58 years, John Gordon; son, Scott Gordon (Jody); daughter, Susan Margaret (James) Jackson; grandchildren, Bradley, Jayden, Katherine (Larissa), Sara (Chris), and Steven; great-grandchildren, Anders and Claire; and several nieces and nephews.

Born at Pierson, MB, she spent her early childhood in Winnipeg and Ochre River, MB; moving to Vancouver in her teens and on to Calgary.

At age eight, she contracted Polio. Despite the disabling effects of the disease, she raised two wonderful children, and had a successful career, mostly with Imperial Oil Ltd. Upon retirement due to the effects of post polio syndrome, she and John moved to Chilliwack, BC., before moving to St. Albert in 2014.

She loved doing arts and crafts and was a quilter/sewer as well as a painter in oils and watercolors. Although she was physically limited, one of her favourite activities was ‘supervising’ John in their gardens.

If so desired, donations can be made to Rotary Canada for the elimination of polio, or to a charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place at Capital City Cremation in Edmonton, Alberta.
