Lila Lenora MacCumber

November 2, 1930 - June 23, 2025
Picture1

It is with deep sorrow, and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Lila Macumber,
Edmonton, Alberta. Lila passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 94.
Lila will be lovingly remembered by her children, son, Perry Dominey (Sandra), California; daughter,
Angela (Ron), Edmonton; and granddaughter, Natasha (Kevin), Edmonton. Lila was predeceased by
her husband of 61 years, Clay; parents, Brent and Laura (Lottie) Mills; sister, Jennie; and brother,
Perry.

Lila was born in Bramber, Nova Scotia. She worked at Simpsons, in Halifax, for many years, before
moving to New York, where she worked for a Doctor for several years.
Mom missed Nova Scotia, and especially missed her boyfriend, Clay. She returned to Nova Scotia, and
on July 3, 1964, Mom and Clay were married. She became a homemaker until the late 1970’s, when
Clay, Mom, and Angie, moved to Edmonton.
Mom worked full time at Canada West Insurance in Edmonton, until she retired in 1992. She loved
her time at Canada West and made lifelong friends there. They kept in touch right up until her
passing.

Retirement was enjoyable for Lila and Clay. They traveled to Nova Scotia several times over the years,
once, in a motor home with friends. They visited their son, Perry, in California. They were always on
the go, whether in Edmonton, or visiting throughout Canada. They loved to entertain their friends
and family. They both loved a great party.

Mom loved the beach in Nova Scotia, especially down the Cove Road. She would help Clay any way
she could when they were building their first home in Bramber. She loved people, loved being around
them, Mom was kind, and generous, she loved helping people. Sometimes to the extreme. If a friend
was down on their luck, we weren’t surprised to find them living in the basement apartment, until
they got back on their feet. She could be a formidable woman. If she felt betrayed, or disrespected,
by friend or foe, she didn’t hesitate to call them on it. She was 94, and her mind was still sharp as a
tack! Unfortunately, her body let her down.

Mom was a good woman. She loved us, and she loved her husband, Clay. Clay died a little over a year
ago. She never got over it. She told us many times her only wish was to be with Clay again. Now she
is!

Our Mom will be missed by all of us, and also by her many friends. We will always remember her
fondly, and love her greatly.

We ask that you please join the family for a Celebration of Lila’s Life:

Aug 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Until 6:00 p.m.

at Newton Community Hall located at 5520 121 Avenue

    Dear Ang, Tash and Ron
I was so terribly sorry and shocked to hear of the passing of your mom. I was fortunate enough to spend a little time with Lila going out for dinner with her and the girls. She was so gracious, funny, witty and full of love and life. It was an absolute blessing to have been able to spend time with her.

Please find some peace in knowing that she is now in the loving arms of Clay and that they are together again. May warm and happy memories of her, keep her close to your hearts!

Take good care of each other. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
    With lots of Love
    Carolyn

I have so many memories of adventures with Lila. I grew up with her living next door. We spent many hours at the beach, deciding what to wear to the dance and dancing. She was a bit like a big sister. Condolences to Perry, Angie & Tash. I know you also have many memories; I trust they will bring you comfort, now and in the years to come. Hugs to you all.

I loved you for 32 years of my life, you loved me for 32 years of your life. You’ve watched me walk, and fall and get back up again. Life has been tough since Gramps passed, but now its even tougher, now that you’re gone. I tell stories about you because we will never let the memories fade. You are hopefully with gramps, relaxing in heaven, watching us down here. I love you forever and ever Amen. 🙏 rest easy gram. I’ll meet up with you again some day
