In Loving Memory of Calvin DaCosta Lord
Calvin DaCosta Lord, age 80, passed away peacefully at a hospice in Edmonton, Alberta, surrounded by the love of his three daughters at his bedside.
Born in Barbados, Calvin immigrated to Canada in 1968, where he lived in London and Winnipeg before making Edmonton his home. He was known for his genuine friendship — a thoughtful man who listened with patience, offered encouragement, and made others feel at ease in his presence. His kind nature and gentle humour will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Calvin is survived by Choreen, his former spouse and the mother of Charlene and Carolee; by his three daughters, Charlene, Carolee, and Ashley (the mother of his granddaughters, Mareeam and Maleeka); his siblings, Elaine Walker, Ismay Skinner, Barbara King, Margaret Thorne, Judy Lord, Lorraine Gonsalves, and Sherlock Lord; their families; and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruby Lord; his brother, Trevor Lord; and his longtime companion, Angela.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer.ca or ParkinsonAssociation.ca in his memory.
There will be no funeral service. A memorial gathering will be held, with details to be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Calvin’s warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength touched countless lives — his presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Capital City Cremation.
