Elizabeth Ellen Dodsworth (nee Blackbird) known to many as “Betty,” passed away in her sleep at the age of 65 on August 14th, 2021.
Betty was born to the late Rena Green (Blackbird) October 11th, 1955 in Sarnia, Ontario. Betty was a member of the Walpole Island First Nation and was a Mohawk Institute Residential school survivor.
Betty attended Fenelon Falls High School where she met the love of her life, Steven Dodsworth. They married February 23, 1974 at CFB Downsview and lived in Ontario before moving to Edmonton, Alberta in 1995.
Betty was predeceased by her love, Steven, on August 27, 2008.
Betty is survived by her five children Barbara, Peter, Daniel, Keith, April, and her foster son Alex. She is also survived by all her children’s spouses and her sixteen grandchildren. Betty will be missed by her surviving siblings Lenny and Dorothy and is predeceased by her sisters Roxanna and Barbara.
The family insists that people make donations to The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, in lieu of sending flowers.
