Frances May Husch

You are here: Obituaries / Frances May Husch
June 26, 1947 - October 18, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that Fran Husch’s family announces Fran’s passing. She had been ill for some time and spent her last days in St. Joe’s Auxiliary Palliative Care Unit, Edmonton, Alberta.

Fran is survived by son Gerald Jr. (Janelle) grandchildren: Kaylie (Jaymes), Kyle (Nina) and Karson of Dawson Creek, BC and son, Chris (Michelle) grandchildren: Drew (Taylor), Sydney and Taryn of Sherwood Park, AB. Life partner, Greg Villeneuve of Edmonton. Sisters, Becky (Rob), Karen (Allen), Donna (Frank) and their families.

Predeceased by her husband Gerald Husch, Father Sydney Marple, and Mother Mae Marple.

Fran spent most of her early years in Spirit River and moved to Grimshaw as a teen where she met her first love Gerald, whom she married May 14, 1966. They spent the first years of their marriage in Grimshaw, Dawson Creek, Edmonton, and Ft Nelson. While living in Dawson Creek Fran was employed as a telephone operator with BC Tel. Here they started their family, welcoming Gerald Jr. and Chris. Business opportunities then took them to Fort Nelson.
Eventually they returned to where it all began, Grimshaw AB. to raise their boys. Fran and Gerald purchased the “Peter’s M&M Foods”, later known as “Lucky Dollar” (grocery store) and between working in the store, attending the boy’s hockey games, baking everything from scratch, joining the CWL, sewing, Fran was a busy woman! Family was of the utmost importance to Fran. She was a dedicated wife and Mother, and always there to chauffeur the boys to their sports and other events. Her love and pride extended to each grandchild as they became part of the family. She loved them all very much.

When widowed at a young age, Fran decided she would follow a new career path. She started taking classes in preparation to work in the healthcare field. Unfortunately, she suffered a stroke leaving the right side of her body partially paralyzed. Not one to give up easily, she worked so hard in rehab. Her strength, stubbornness, independence, and determination served this little woman well. She eventually regained a lot of her mobility.

After her recovery she worked as a healthcare aide caring for those not capable of taking care of themselves. Although it was very hard work, she found it so fulfilling. She continued working in the health care industry until retiring.

Finding love once again, Greg came into her life. They enjoyed travel across Canada meeting family and spending time together with their families and pets. Greg has been such a wonderful and important part of her life. To witness the love between them through this challenging and sad time was beautiful. To love and be loved is a precious gift, and one that she deserved. The family thanks Greg for being such a great support to Fran throughout her illness.

Fran may you rest in peace and find joy in reuniting with Gerald, Mom and Dad.

We love you and will miss you always.
