August 28, 1948 - February 18, 2026
IMG 6802
Ian George Glancy, 77, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Born on August 28, 1948, in Edinburgh, Scotland, he lived a life full of dedication to his family, his work, and his many passions.

Ian was a natural salesman who had built a successful career culminating with Russell Food Equipment. His ability to connect with people and his unwavering work ethic defined his professional life. Beyond his career, Ian was a man of many talents. In his younger years, he was a skilled carpenter who could craft almost anything with precision and care. His creativity and craftsmanship left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to witness his work.

Ian had an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. He kept up with current events and loved engaging in debates about various issues. Always armed with a story to tell, he brought warmth and energy to every conversation. Ian’s selflessness was evident in the way he consistently put others’ needs before his own without complaint. His generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him.

Ian is survived by his devoted wife Brenda; his daughters Christine (Greg) and Kathy (Trevor); his cherished grandchildren Jaden (Colin), Chyna (Ernie), Jana, and Casey; and his beloved great-grandchildren Valissa, Sardelle, and Drizzt. He is also survived by his older brother Terry (Ruth) along with their children and grandchildren. Ian held many roles throughout his life—son, brother, nephew, friend, husband, brother-in-law, father, coach, grandfather (papa), great-grandfather—and each role he embraced with love and dedication.

Ian’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and an enduring commitment to those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May Ian’s memory bring comfort to those who mourn him and inspire all to live with the same generosity and grace that he exemplified throughout his life.

So sorry for your loss. Ian was a gentleman in every sense of the word. His customers loved him and those of us who worked with him at RFE enjoyed his ability to have some fun, laugh at himself and make those around him enjoy their day a little bit more.
