James Evans

January 18, 1991 - November 6, 2021
IMG 2686

On November 6th, 2021, James Mike Evans died a sudden death in Edmonton Alberta of an accidental opioid overdose. He was only 30 years old.

James is survived by his grandparents Diane Curry and her life long close friend Tyrone Polanski, Gail Evans, Clara Sorochan; Nana Jean Brown; Howard (Thomas) Dennis; parents Rose Evans; Cory Evans, Rok Hartwell; aunts’ Sharon Stalker, Gay Ann MacKay, Angie Sorochan, Lynn, and Lori Brown; uncles’ Randy MacKay, Sean Stalker, Michael, and Paul Sorochan; cousins’ Jarrod MacKay – Parsons, Erin MacKay, Emily, and Claire Stalker; step sibling Sabrina Hartwell and his son Zane Evans of Edmonton Alberta. He was preceded in death by his uncle Lewis Evans and great aunt Joyce Lambert.

James was born originally named Michael Sorochan in 1991 in Edmonton Alberta. He changed his given name and took the last name of his stepfather Cory Evans upon adulthood. He pursued an occupation in Pipefitting after high school and most recently worked in various warehouse labor type positions since the oilfield industry collapsed.

James and Hope Wiebe welcomed their son Zane Evans into the world in 2015. Although James and Hope parted paths shortly thereafter, there remained a strong connection through their son.

He was a fun loving, caring individual who often carried the weight of the world on his shoulders caring so much about the well being of others. He would always be the one to offer the shirt of his back so to speak if he had nothing else to offer. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs. James was very close to his grandma Diane and aunt Sharon growing up. His love of the outdoors began during his childhood enjoying many outdoor activities with his extended family such as walking the dogs, rock climbing, camping, hiking, and swimming.

A virtual Celebration of Life will be scheduled soon to offer closure to family, friends and all those who loved him.

My sincerest wishes of peace and love to Rosa, Cory and Zane. My only Grandson brought so much joy into my life, along with the lives of all his family and friends. No parent should ever lose such a young Son who brought so much happiness into the world. I know he is in Heaven now and hope to find him when it is my time. My precious memories of Michael are of all the fun we had singing and acting together as well as the dinner and a movie night we had quite often. Michael and I shared so many of the same joys in life, like the love of dogs especially. It is next to impossible to put into words how devastated I am right now. May God and the Angels take great care of him. He is so loved by all his Family and whoever else had the ultimate pleasure of receiving the light and kindness he bestowed upon them. God Bless our Dear Michael. This is not goodbye to him, my memories of him remain in my heart now and forever, Amen.
