
Jim passed away after a brief illness with his loving wife of 64 years, Hope, and family by his side.
Mourning his loss is their son Patrick (Dianne), and daughter Joanne Halwa (Wayne). Jim leaves behind Grandchildren Shevaun Fortune, Bryce Fortune (Anita), Brooklyn Stretch (Luke) and Sierra Halwa (Josh), as well as Great Grandchildren Cooper and Jett Fortune and Chloe Stretch. Also mourning his loss is Step-brother Father Stanislaus Paulin, brother Lloyd (Diane), sister Margie Saulnier (Bob) and nephews and nieces.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Catherine and Raymond Fortune, sister Ann and beloved son Paul Fortune.
Jim was born in St. John, NB and joined the RCAF after high school and met and married Air Woman Hope Lundberg in Greenwood NS. Jim was awarded the Centennial Medal in 1967 for Meritorious Service in the RCAF. From there proceeded a position with Beckman Instruments in Winnipeg MN followed by a career with Hewlett Packard in Edmonton, AB, reaching the position of Western Regional Manager, Analytical Division. Hope and Jim retired to the Kootenays in BC where they enjoyed golfing and made many lasting friends. Jim was known for his intelligence, quick wit, humor, and as a gentle and kind human being and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place with internment to follow at a later date.
