Josémée Blackburn passed away peacefully on March 18th, at 10:20am, in Pilgrims Hospice in Edmonton, Alberta. At the age of 72, Josémée was taken far too early, and she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind her husband Paul, her two sons Thomas and Daniel, her daughter-in-law Crystal, and her four (4) grand-fur-children: Walter, Teddy, Socks, and Dave.
Josémée lived a life full of happiness, fulfillment, and adventure. After leaving the Seychelles at a young age, Josémée travelled the world and built a life for herself with her husband Paul. Josémée was a very loving and committed mother to her two (2) children, while also being a very exceptional OR nurse. Following in her father’s footsteps, Josémée proudly found a sense of purpose in her medical profession.
Words cannot describe what Josémée meant to her family, and friends. Her kindness, compassion, and caring nature followed her wherever she went. And the people who were fortunate enough to know her, and have her in their lives, knew how special a person she was.
Having known Josémée all my life, she would not want anyone to dwell on her passing. Instead, she would want everyone to remember all of the good times they shared with her, and continue to live their lives with purpose.

Dear Paul, Daniel, Thomas and Crystal,
Meeting Paul and Josie in Den Haag in 1984 was a pivotal moment for me. Apart from the fun, laughter and silliness, I look back with love on the care and support both gave to me. And although we ended up on opposites of the world, the connection never waned. That’s the power of love which Josie and Paul have in bucket loads.
This is a sad time. But my, oh my, what goodness, love and beauty Josie brought to us all.
Chris 🙏

Paul and Josémée were the epitome of what I would describe as ‘true love ‘.
It was a very poignant story of how we connected over the years and makes a lovely story for the telling .
I am so glad to have met this lovely couple who have enriched my life with our connection.
Rest in peace , Josemee .. the world is a lonelier place without you 🌹

Dear brother Paul, also Thomas Daniel and Crystal
I have read that the beautiful Indian ocean Island from which Josemee came produces the largest seed in the world- coco de mer; and the island is home to a special aerial bird- the frigate. May your hearts be continually filled with sweet, precious memories of Josemee and the beautiful strength she poured into your lives.

Josie was, and remains, one of my favourite people of all time. She had a wonderful way of making everybody who knew her feel they were not only special — funnier, cleverer, more interesting — but special to her. I’m already missing her so much but also feel lucky to have counted her as a close friend for the best part of 50 years.
Fran joins me in sending love and thoughts to Paul, Thomas, Daniel and Crystal — and to the rest of her lovely family (furry, non-furry and turtle) in the Seychelles and around the world…
