Pauline Fortier

You are here: Obituaries / Pauline Fortier
May 7, 1952 - August 10, 2025

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Pauline Marie Fortier, resident of Devon, Alberta, on August 10, 2025, at the age of 73.

Pauline was the eldest of 12 children from Armand Paul and RoseMarie (Bourque) Fortier. She was born in Killarney, Manitoba, on May 7, 1952. Pauline was an adventurous free spirit who loved motorcycling, travel, nature, and gardening, wanting nothing more than to live in the moment and have her hands in the soil cultivating life from seed. She toured much of North America with her husband on motorcycle and was thrilled at the excitement of travel to new places. More than that, she loved her family, sharing her love over Sunday brunch, through her home cooking. Her unbending determination and fierce protective spirit made her a strong protector of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pauline’s creative nature could be seen in her creative endeavours, personal style, and the way she could turn any abode into a warm and welcoming home.

She leaves to mourn in her passing: her loving husband, Larry, her children Jason (Chantelle), Jeremy (Nicole), Heather (Jean), Desiree (Al); her step-children Garth (Jennifer), and Sarah (Jack); her grandchildren; Devon, Shennia (Colin), Alyx (Somni JP); Duncan, Liam, Delaney, Sean, Willis, and Chenoa; her great grandchildren and her surviving siblings; Celine, Paul (Linda), Pierre (Pat), Louise, Bob (Michelle), Yvonne, Dianne (Robert), Vivianne, Bernard (Amaranta), and Francie. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Maurice, and her daughter Tammy.

Pauline wished for her memory to live on in the world and asked for a tree to be planted in her honour. You are welcome to plant one on your own, or you may donate in her memory at Tree Canada: https://treecanada.ca/donate-tribute/.

She was expertly cared for by the surgeons at the University of Alberta Hospital. If you wish to donate in her memory, please make a donation at the University Hospital Foundation: https://givetouhf.ca/donate-in-memory/.
