rose

Rose Jean Bourdin (nee Weisser) peacefull left this world on 19 April 2021, one day after her 92 nd birthday. She is reunited with her loving husband, Maurice Bourdin, who passed away 17 July, 2014. Rose and Maurice were married 1 July 1950 in Camperville, Manitoba.

Rose was born in Hilda, Alberta 19 April 1929 to Paul and Bertha Weisser. She is survived by her siblings Alf (Elaine) Weisser, Vi Heth, and Irene Jones and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by sisters Olinda and Verna, and brother Ray.

Forever cherished in the hearts of her children Leonard (Beverley), Laurie, and Steven (Shari); four grandsons Maris (Liliana), Craig, Scott (Danielle) and Ty (Stephanie); and four beautiful grandaughters Jeniva, Natalie, Serenity and Sierra.

Rose made many dear friends while living at Terra Losa Lifestyle Options in Edmonton. She relished playing poker, cribbage, and floor curling . The comradery with Ella, Margaret, Mike (Jessie) and Jim and many others brightened her days. Special thanks to the health care team of nurse Sheri Buhler and Dr. Samuel-Haynes.

The silver lining of the covid pandemic in the past year was that Rose spent time living her sons Len (Bev) and Steve (Shari). She shared many stories, demonstrated a wicked sense of humour, baked, provided insights of being a legally blind nonagenarian and relished the furry affections of Charley the dog. Rose tried diligently to instill an enthusiasm with her sons and daughter-inlaws for TV game shows. The hum of the wheels on her walker is missed in their homes.

The past few weeks of Rose’s life were spent in care on unit 8 East at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. The would like to thank and acknowledge the compassionate care from Dr. Asifa Riaz, Dr. Griffin, and Dr. Kimberly Watson. The family extends gratitude to the nursing staff of 8 East and to the nursing students from Grant MacEwan College who provided dignified and respectful care up to her final breath.

A celebration of life will be planned when pandemic conditions safely permit the gathering of family and loved ones.

Cremation has taken place at Capital City Cremation in Edmonton, Alberta.

Sorry for your loss Len, Steve and Laurie. My first memory of her is back when I was 6 or 7 and she taught us kids how to dry dishes. She was very fussy. Later your Mom and Dad always welcomed me into their home with whatever friend or family I bought with me. I enjoyed all the visits Aunty Rose and I had after she moved to Edmonton. She will be forever in my heart.
