Velvet Evelyn Gales, 77, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. Born in Strathclair, Manitoba, she was a loving and loyal mother. She found great joy in knitting, creating scarves, hats, and blankets that she often donated to those in need. Her kindness and creativity were evident in every stitch she made. Velvet is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jacy (Pete) and Trisha; her cherished grandsons, Thomas, Noah, and Joshua; and her beloved grand-kitties, Mattia and Oliver. Mom was born in 1936 in Zhoda, Manitoba, where she spent the first 5 years of her life surrounded by extended family, speaking only Ukrainian and one summer avoiding a particularly terrifying goose. She started school in Labroquerie where she was suddenly immersed in French, and finally learned English when she moved with her parents to Vancouver. It is with great sadness that the family of Wes Musgrove announce his sudden and untimely passing on Dec 26, 2024, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. In loving memory of our mother Gerda Jensen, it is with heavy hearts we announce her passing on December 4, 2024 at the age of 91. Gerda was born near Vester Nebel, Denmark and emigrated to Canada in 1958. In Denmark she is survived by her sisters Lis and Tove. Predeceased by her little brother Lindvig in 2014. Before retirement at the age of 65 Gerda enjoyed many years working with her “boys” at Stentor as secretary.
